Very good post!
Great post! I couldn't argue with any of the points, whenever I use yahoo it just seems sluggish and a pain to use compared to Google.
Great points. However, I find the quality of results in Yahoo better in a lot of cases. Google's tendancy to favor older sites brings back a lot of out dated stuff when doing research oriented queries. That's my experience anyhow, and that is part of the UI as well. But, I certainly can't argue with your points.
In the interests of balance: a. it's hardly fair to criticise Yahoo! for not copying Google (Preferences) then criticise it for copying Google (autocomplete). And you could of course use Yahoo! Search by typing yahoo.co.uk (or yahoo.ie) and using that big searchy thing at the top of the page.
The reason I don't use it is because I find that often the links to results time out (and have done for years) - yahoo! seem to have a real problem with their redirect servers on all their services.
Disclosure: I'm ex-Yahoo! - you can tell us because we're so indoctinated we always spell it with a "!" (known as the Y-bang, incidentally)
