It was painful to watch, but Shel Israel, host of the Global Neighbourhoods “show”, recently dedicated an "episode" to a social media marketing campaign SeaWorld San Antonio engaged in last year as part of its launch of a new ride, 'Journey to Atlantis'. As I watched Israel’s piece, I couldn’t help but see gaps and faulty logic in the claims being made.

So I decided to deconstruct the campaign based on the available information.

It's an excellent article and deconstruction of the social media marketing campaign. Really gets down to the detail and a genuine analysis of where the campaign failed to demonstrate added value.

Mind you, I also think it would be worth acknowledging a certain amount of kudos for SeaWorld looking to alternative marketing methods by considering the idea of a social media marketing campaign in the first place.
